From what we’ve gathered, Joules seem to be the purest essence of Anèria—the land of the Kaiju. They hold latent energy, ready to be released, but for too long concealed by stagnation.
When you collect a Joule, you hold a key to reanimating Anèria and saving it from the looming darkness.
A word to the wise, though: When you come into contact with a Joule, things… change. You might be referred to as a “Kaijin” or a “mysterious person.”
Kaiju share the same energy as these Joules. They appear to be connected. Not sure how, but when everything lines up just right, Joules appear. If you don’t snag ‘em quick, they fade away.
Each Kaiju is categorized by 1 of 7 Joule types and from there, 1 of 3 sub-types. Every Joule type and sub-type has distinct characteristics, which makes for some unique strategizing. Here’s a breakdown of just some of their characteristics, but it doesn’t account for things that can’t be measured, like synergy, utility and pure enjoyment. “After all, Kaiju are far more than their abilities.”
